With more and more YA books written for an adult audience these days, I often wonder whether there are still any high school romance books for teens out there. So I spent some time investigating by myself and chatting with the teachers and librarians in our Facebook Group with good results! In this post, I'm sharing some of my personal favorite high school romance books for teens with a variety of tropes and settings. Whether your teens love enemies-to-lovers, friends-to-lovers, romance as a subplot, romances featuring big families, or a good ol' K-drama situation, there's something for them on this list! The Best Book Series for Teens

Many parents struggle to maintain the love their kids had for reading in middle school. I've found that like with younger kids, finding good book series for teens is a great trick for keeping them reading. When I was a teen, I LOVED The Hunger Games and Divergent series and thought about them for years after reading -- especially with the movies coming out. I also read the To All the Boys series in young adulthood and loved it too. I've included these favorites on this list, but I also asked the readers and librarians in my Facebook Group (you should join us!) their favorites, and many of these are their crowd-pleasing recommendations.

Good Books for Teen Girls

With the number of YA releases, you'd think it shouldn't be too hard to find good books for teen girls. But many YA books these days seem to be more for adults than teens. There are also so many books for teens with romance as the central plot (which I have no qualms about) but some teens don't enjoy reading about romance. For this list, I tried to choose wholesome books that teen girls will enjoy, with minimal language, something more than romance, and relatable themes. The stories below are some of my favorite YA stories and like with all gendered lists, everyone can read these -- they're just YA books starring teen girls!

Novels in Verse for High School

Everyone talks about middle school verse novels, but it can be harder to find novels in verse high school. I also found that a lot of the verse novels for high school tends to focus on grittier subject matter like sexual harassment, addiction, and mental illness. While I'm glad that kids have access to books on these subjects, some teens just want lighter stories with a touch of poetry. So, for this list, I've rounded up young adult verse novels that teens can read, including lighthearted plots like romance, family, and history.
