This year was my year of audiobooks. With Everand (formerly Scribd) and Libro.fm (including the ALC program — more about that here) combined, I flew through 5-10 audiobooks nearly every month! Still, finding a truly phenomenal audiobook production isn’t an easy feat. Many audiobooks are just fine (especially if they aren’t full-cast or dual narration).

My Favorite Middle Grade Books of 2021

Curating my list of best middle grade books of 2021 was much easier than last year, for some reason. I credit that to understanding what I like better and finally defining what makes a "best of the best" book for me. Of course, as with all "best of" lists, this is entirely subjective. For me, these stories are the most memorable, enjoyable, and/or thought-provoking middle grade books I read in 2021.

My 13 Favorite Middle-Grade Books Read in 2020

AHH, the end of year lists continue -- this time with my list of best middle-grade books in 2020! As you'll notice in the post title, these are MY favorites out of the limited selection I read this year. Out of the 87 books I've read at this time, 57 were excellent middle-grade books. These 13 picks rose to the top for me. They were the books I could still remember vividly, books whose covers still evoke a warm feeling because the stories are so dear to my heart. Many of these books were stories I've never seen told in middle-grade literature, featured underrepresented themes in the genre or strong, unforgettable protagonists.
